THE BOREDOM OF TEENAGERS IN OUR GENERATION

With the emerging trends in today's world technology, improvement of the internet and introduction of smartphones, a new study has caught up with teens due to this technological changes as many do not know what to do with themselves. They rather end up misusing the internet. The question we all tend to pause is, who is to be blamed for this behaviour that is cropping in our teens.
Do parents take the initiative to check on what their kids are doing online?
It's not only about providing the basic necessities to teens but also about checking and guarding his/her development emotionally, psychologically and mentally

Most teenagers experience boredom from time to time.
Boredom is feeling weary and restless through lack of interest.However, many people do not understand how boredom may be associated with depressive symptoms and risky behaviour. Reports have it that over the past years  most teenagers have committed suicide due to depression and many of the female gender reported pregnant. According to statistics,this trend was highly noted in 2020 and has  found its way to the preceding years. This study can be traced to either  information being hidden from teenagers or idleness, boredom and having nothing constructive to do.

The teenage age (13-19years) is a period of development and change.during this time teenagers want independence.they tend to be rebellious and want to act like full grownups. Failure to get the independence they want creates situations where they are prone to boredom and they may find it hard corping with being bored. At this juncture they have the perspective of how meaningless life is.To them being denied something is being harsh.

Over the years teen boredom has been on the rise and worse in girls. Due to the fear of facing the reality ahead of them, teenagers tend to find easy ways out of there situations. This is why research has it most substance abusers are teenagers,  most girls getting pregnant are in the teenage bracket and most people engaging in irresponsible sexual relationships are teenagers.Boredom also results from the content from ones immediate environment. Having a mind that is subject to exercising everything that it sees leads to one engaging in risky behavior.

All is not lost as boredom can be controlled.
Teens can be taught how to be self aware of their feelings and how to deal with every situation positively. Furthermore, adults can model what it looks like to walk yourself through boredom by having time with teenagers to educate them.this is because  boredom affects all persons irregardless.

Teenagers go through a lot of challenges;
Bullying, anxiety, depression , dealing with physical body changes just to mention. Due to this, teenagers need tender care, they need people around them who will understand them, teach them, listen to them and not judge them. This will help teenagers not to be subject to their suicidal thoughts but  will help them fit in just perfectly.

Psychologically, boredom is the feeling of missing something. Often, when one misses something they tend to look for it so as to fill the gap. This can lead to irresponsible decision making made out of feeling restless where guidance may lack.However, this can be easily controlled by understanding that it's okay to be bored and that  everyone feels bored in one way or the other.There after one looks for solutions to help corp with boredom e.g talking to someone or doing something that one loves will help prevent boredom leading to situations we will regret.
